HOKIES TIE PIRATES 5-5 IN BASEBALL

Darkness stopped Wednesday's college baseball game between Virginia Tech and East Carolina, with the score tied 5-5 after 11 innings.

After Tech came up with an unearned run in the bottom of the 11th to tie the score, officials deemed there was not enough light to continue play.

Tech is 5-0-1; ECU 3-9-1.

Published correction ran on March 6, 1992.

Because of a copy editor's error, Virginia Tech's baseball opponent was identified incorrectly in Thursday's sports section. Tech and Western Carolina played to a 5-5 tie in a game called after 11 innings because of darkness.
