\ PFC. TRACY C. LUPTON, son of Barbara B. Lupton of 5314 Carolyn Drive, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., and was promoted to his present rank.
Lupton graduated from Salem High School in 1991.
\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS LLOYD E. ERICKSON, son of Neva R. Erickson of 1905 Dale Ave., recently returned to Virginia Beach with Fighter Squadron 31 after a seven-month deployment to the Mediterranean and Red seas.
Erickson's squadron embarked aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal in May, 1991, and participated in routine operations. The squadron also supported the Kurdish relief effort by taking part in more than 900 flights into northern Iraq providing tactical reconnaissance and combat air patrol. Erickson is a 1986 graduate of Salem High School.
\ SEAMAN APPRENTICE LEWIS B. ROTENBERRY, son of Lewis B. Rotenberry Sr. of Vinton, recently graduated from Coast Guard recruit training in Cape May, N.J. Rotenberry is a 1991 graduate of Staunton River High School.
\ NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT JIM D. HUBBARD, son of Gwendolyn C. Hubbard of 505 Craig Ave., Vinton, recently returned to Norfolk aboard the USS Wasp after a six-month deployment to the Mediterranean Sea. He is a 1990 graduate of William Byrd High School.
\ SEAMAN ANTHONY BRYANT, son of Wallace B. and Avonda A. Bryant of 209 Highland Road, Vinton, recently graduated from Coast Guard recruit training in Cape May, N.J.
Bryant is a 1986 graduate of William Byrd High School and 1990 graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University.
\ CONSTRUCTIONMAN APPRENTICE ROBERT G. BROWN, son of Roger G. and Martha J. Brown of Vinton, recently returned to Port Hueneme, Calif., with Naval Mobile Construction Battalion Four.
Brown's battalion was on a seven-month deployment to Japan and the Phillipines, where it participated in the recovery operations at Subic Bay Naval Base after the eruption of Mount Pinatubo. Brown is a 1988 graduate of Staunton River High School.
\ WARRANT OFFICER PAUL C. DANIEL, son of Kermit E. and Helen L. Daniel of 3560 McFarland Road, was appointed to his present post after completing the rotary wing aviator course at Fort Rucker, in Daleville, Ala.
Daniel received the silver wings of an Army aviator upon completion of the course.
