Foxx scored 21 of his 26 points in the second half as the Panthers rallied from a 17-point deficit and held on for a 79-77 victory over Emory & Henry in a South Regional playoff game Thursday night at Swartz Gymnasium.
Ferrum, making its first Division III tournament appearance, will play at Maryville (Tenn.) College at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The Panthers (21-7), who beat Emory & Henry for the third time this season, have lost twice to Maryville (23-3).
"It's hard to beat a good team three times in a season," said Foxx. "We're going to Maryville with a lot confidence that we can win up there. We beat Emory & Henry for the third time, but now we want to show Maryville can't do that to us."
Ferrum was down once by 17 and trailed 45-36 at halftime, but the Panthers outscored Emory & Henry 11-5 in the first three minutes of the second half to close to 50-47.
Foxx, who was 1-for-7 in the first half, started the run by driving the baseline for a reverse layup.
The teams traded baskets, then Foxx made a 3-pointer. James Johnson's follow basket cut it to 49-45.
The Wasps made a free throw, and Foxx answered with another driving layup.
"They did a good job of harassing me in the first half," said Foxx, "but I came out in the second half ready to play. I wanted to get the points or get fouled, so I was definitely taking it to the hole."
The Wasps failed to score on four possessions, and Kevin Keats cut Ferrum's deficit to one with a driving layup.
Sean Conyers scored inside on an assist from John Breedlove as the Panthers took their first lead, 51-50, with 14:17 remaining.
A technical foul on Keith Williams resulted in Emory & Henry making two of four free throws to regain a one-point lead.
Led by James Johnson's two baskets, Ferrum scored eight straight points to go up 59-52 and force the Wasps to call a timeout at 12:21.
Ferrum pushed the lead to 73-63 with 4:41 left before Emory & Henry (20-8) fought back.
Brian Whitcher scored and Luke Sampson made a 3-pointer to pull the Wasps to 75-74 with 55 seconds left.
Quincy Quick, who scored 14 points, made two free throws, and after Derek Elmore missed, Foxx sealed the victory with a dunk with 19 seconds left.
Sampson's 3-pointer at the end set the final margin.
"We've blown leads all season," said Emory & Henry forward Ross Kirtley. "I don't know what it is. We had them down in the first half then didn't hold them. Everett played like the All-American he is in the second half." \
