RADFORD BANKS REAFFIRM MAIN ST. COMMITMENT

Five local banks have reaffirmed their commitment to Main Street Radford by extending the Main Street low-interest loan programs another year.

Crestar Bank, NationsBank, First National Bank of Christiansburg, First Virginia Bank and Central Fidelity Bank have extended their programs, which provide incentives for prospective commercial ventures within the Main Street business district.

The loan programs have been renewed annually since 1989.

Main Street programs focus on preserving historic commercial buildings. The banks have developed two loan programs. There is a one-year loan program for new businesses. The other program allows up to 10 years to repay loans to renovate an existing business.

The amount of either loan must be $5,000 to $75,000. Initial applications must be made at the Main Street Radford Office, 1126 Norwood St. The deadline to apply is Dec. 30.
