NEW RIVER PEOPLE IN BUSINESS

Four new directors have been named at Radford Community Hospital. They are BOB RIZZO, director of surgical services; JIM CLOE, technical director of respiratory care; STEVE WILLIAMS, technical director of radiology; and B.J. WILLARD, administrative director of cardiac rehabilitation and wellness.

Rizzo has a business administration degree from the Boston University School of Management and worked 20 years at the New England Medical Center Hospital. Most recently, he was administrator of surgical departments and a department head at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.

Cloe, former respiratory care manager who has worked at the Radford hospital since 1983, received an associate degree in respiratory care from the College of Health Sciences in Roanoke and is working toward a master's degree in business administration at Virginia Tech.

Williams, who was assistant technical director of radiology, has been with the hospital since 1984. He holds a bachelor's degree in health administration from Mary Baldwin College.

Willard joined the hospital staff in 1985. She holds a master's degree in exercise physiology from Virginia Tech, where she was an exercise specialist at the Cardiac and Intervention Center. She is president-elect of the Virginia Society of Cardiovascular Rehabilitation.

\ EDWARD F.D. SPENCER, director of residential and dining programs at Virginia Tech, was named the 1991-92 Executive of the Year by the New River Valley Chapter of Professional Secretaries International. Spencer has worked in residence life for 20 years and has held his current position since 1989.

\ JOHN L. WILCOX has been appointed president of the Radford branch of Ferguson Enterprises Inc., a wholesale distributor of plumbing, heating and mechanical products. Wilcox, a graduate of William & Mary College, joined the company in 1983. He most recently was operations manager of the Raleigh, N.C., branch.

\ RICK KEESEE of Pulaski is one of five finalists in the Carleton Noell Awards program for excellence in restaurant management. The award is sponsored by Boddie-Noell Enterprises Inc., owners and operators of 300 Hardee's restaurants. Keesee received his award at the annual "Best of the Best" banquet, a black-tie affair in Rocky Mount, N.C.

Dr. RANDY VAUGHN, who owns and operates Tipton Ridge Veterinary Medical Center in Pulaski, was named to the 1991-92 edition of "Who's Who in Veterinary Science and Medicine." Vaughn, who received his doctorate of veterinary medicine from the University of Georgia, has been in private practice since 1981. He specializes in companion animal, avian and exotic medicine and surgery.

Pearisburg resident PRISCILLA MORRIS, a Realtor with Raines Real Estate Inc. Better Homes and Gardens, was named the Division IV Rookie of the Year at the national convention in Texas. She has been with the company for 18 months.

Hercules Inc. employees DOUGLAS A. CAPOBIANCO, REIF A. BOND and GEORGE L. BUTTERWORTH were top award winners at the 1991 Cost Crusader and Recognition Banquet in Blacksburg.

Capobianco, a systems service technician at the arsenal and a two-time Wage Cost Crusader of the Year winner, submitted 29 cost reductions in excess of $64,000. He was awarded $2,500 in U.S. Savings Bonds and a certificate. Capobianco also was named the Wage Quality Action Request Contributor for 1991.

Bond, a production specialist, was named the 1991 Salary Cost Crusader based on nine cost reductions that saved more than $182,000. Bond received $2,500 in U.S. Savings Bonds and a certificate.

Butterworth, a production specialist, was the top Salary Quality Action Request Contributor for 1991. He received a plaque in recognition of his achievement.

Dr. ROBERT B. STEPHENSON of Dublin has been inducted as a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons during the academy's 59th annual meeting in Washington. He is an orthopedist with extensive training in the diagnosis and non-surgical and surgical treatment of the musculoskeletal system.

Dr. PARAS ACHARYA of Pulaski Community Hospital has been certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Allergy-Immunology. Acharya, who specializes in allergies and asthma, received her medical degree in 1977 from Baroda Medical College in Baroda, India.

\ JILL B. BARR, Radford's economic development director, received a $500 scholarship from the Virginia Economic Developers Association to take the accredited basic economic development course at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

\ WILLIAM C. "BILL" HAGER has taken early retirement from Appalachian Power Co. after more than 35 years. He has been the Christiansburg area superintendent since 1990. An Air Force veteran and Wythe County native, Hager has an agricultural engineering degree from Virginia Tech.

\ TED AARON, former line crew supervisor at Appalachian Power Co., will be Hager's replacement. He has an electrical engineering degree from Tennessee Technological University and has been with the company since 1980. He was electrical engineer senior.

\ DON WOOLWINE, a lineman for Appalachian Power Co., will Woolwine succeed Aaron as line crew supervisor. He is a Montgomery County native who began his career in 1965.
