EXPERT TO DISCUSS DEVELOPMENT, PRESERVATION

A Washington, D.C., planning expert will present a talk Monday titled "Preservation and Development: Can We Achieve Both?"

The talk will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Donaldson Brown Center at the Virginia Tech campus. The public is invited to attend.

Elizabeth Brabec is with the D.C. firm Land Ethics.

The forum is sponsored by Tech's College of Architecture and Urban Studies, the town of Blacksburg and the League of Women Voters of Montgomery County.

Both the county and town are beginning to draft open-space plans.

Brabec has written and lectured extensively on the subject of protecting rural landscape and the character of rural towns, conservation and aesthetics, and measuring the economic impacts of preservation.
