WORKSHOP PLANNED IN RADFORD NEXT WEEK ON DUAL DISORDERS

Did you know that up to 60 percent of the mentally ill misuse alcohol or drugs? And individuals with mental retardation are two to three times more likely to have a mental illness?

Because research and treatment of dual disorders is a mental health focus for the '90s, a workshop on "Understanding Dual Disorders" will be held Wednesday, 9 a.m.-noon, at the Landmark Building, 644 First St., Radford.

Registrations must be made by Monday.

Speakers at the workshop, sponsored by the New River Valley Community Services Board, will discuss dual diagnosis, mental illness and substance abuse, problems facing professionals and treatment.
