HEALTH CARE KEPT ECONOMY AFLOAT

THE LETTER by Muriel L. Reynolds Feb. 26 was alarmingly misdirected and inaccurate.

She says the health-care industry contributes to creation of poverty in our society. In case she didn't realize, continued expansion of health care was the major industry keeping America's economy afloat during this recession. It continues to attract domestic and foreign investors and is increasing employment in an arena of collapsing major industries in this country.

This industry is a model of a remarkable achievement during a difficult time. This is despite exponentially increasing government regulations contributing to spiraling costs, and the effect this government has had on the collapsing financial sector. PETER F. KELLY ROANOKE
