SHORT ANNIVERSARY

Mr. and Mrs. George K. Short celebrated their 58th anniversary. The celebration was held at the home of their daughter, Carol Richardson, in Salem. They were married March 2, 1934, in Salem, and have resided in Roanoke since then. She is the former Dorothy Hayden of Salem. They have seven children, twenty grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Short is a retired retail grocer having operated Shorty's Place from 1930 until 1967. He later worked at Seibel Brothers and Wilco Corp. Mrs. Short graduated from Roanoke Hospital Nursing School in 1932 and later worked with her husband at Shorty's Place and Wilco. They attend Vinton Baptist Church.
