It takes 1,000 thousands to make 1 million. It takes 1,000 millions to make 1 billion. It takes 1,000 billions to make 1 trillion.
Our national debt is in the trillions. One-third of all the taxes our federal government collects goes to pay just the interest on the national debt. Think of what could be done with all that money if it did not go for interest.
The president and Congress want to reduce taxes and increase spending, which will only increase the national debt. If this continues, eventually all the taxes collected will go to pay this interest, and the government will be operating on borrowed money. Guess who is the biggest single investor in our government?
It takes a queer mentality to be a bigot. The ministers in our churches are not doing their job. Jesus said, "Love thy neighbor." Not only is there bigotry in our churches, but people within the same church fight and hate one another. Intolerance is just as bad as bigotry.
Handguns are manufactured for the sole purpose of shooting people. If you are not going to shoot someone, why own it? ROBERT G. GOODLETT SALEM
