Town police were investigating the vandalism, which occurred late Saturday and early Sunday on several streets on the south side of town, Lt. Barry Buckner said.
Buckner said black, gray and red paint was sprayed on 54 cars. Police found some discarded paint cans, he said.
"They hit them all the way down the street," Buckner said. ". . . They were busy."
The reports started coming into the Police Department as "people woke up, people got ready to go to church" and discovered their cars damaged, he said.
Police were investigating several leads, but asked that anyone with information on the vandalism call 980-1220 or 980-1221.
