MARKET BUSINESSES EXTEND FRIDAY HOURS

Most businesses in the Roanoke City Market area will extend their Friday hours until 9 p.m. starting this week.

Staying open will be the 13 restaurants in the food court of the Roanoke Market Building and Hopkins Planetarium on the fourth floor of Center in the Square.

Downtown Roanoke Inc. said Monday that more farmers will sell produce Friday evenings as the days become longer and warmer.

The food-court restaurants and planetarium will offer two-way discount specials to encourage visits to each facility Friday evenings.

A mobile planetarium will be set up on the first floor of the market building this Friday. Future Friday-night activities at the food court will include movies, museum exhibits and music.

Also, on-street parking will be unrestricted and free in the evening. Parking also will be free in the Dominion Tower parking garage after 6 p.m.
