POETRY PRIZE WINNER TO PRESENT PROGRAM

The winner of the Virginia Prize for Poetry will give a reading from his work Thursday at Emory & Henry College.

The reading by Gregory Orr in the Calliopean Room of Byars Hall at 8 p.m. is free to the public. Orr is director of the graduate program in writing at the University of Virginia, where he is a professor of English.

He has received a Guggenheim Fellowship for Writing and two fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, and has been an exchange writer to Yugoslavia. He has a master of fine arts degree from Columbia University.
