MISINFORMED

FEW GIRLS want to get pregnant. However, many think "it can't happen to me." Some girls notice that their friends have sex without getting pregnant, so they think they can too. Some think if they only have sex "once in a while" they cannot become pregnant.

Many young people have a moral conflict. In one study, half the teen-agers asked said that it is important for a person to postpone sex until married. But there's an obvious difference in their words and deeds. This is understandable, because in today's society sex is glorified everywhere from songs to beer commercials.

Avoiding premarital sex is the best way to avoid teen pregnancy. Parents should talk to their children about sex, to keep them from being confused and curious.
