The best thing that a parent can do is give their child the birth-control information they might need and be supportive. If a teen-ager asks for birth control, don't keep it from them and think that will keep them from having sex.
In the end, the only way a parent might feel safe is by knowing they've provided their teen-ager with the information and protection needed. That is about the only or smartest thing that a parent can or should do.
