OBIT WAHL, ALBERT J.

Albert J. Wahl, age 83, of Roanoke died Monday. He was a graduate of Iowa State University and the University of Pittsburgh, receiving a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Mr. Wahl was a native of South Dakota and later moved to Western New York State where he started his business, A.J. Wahl, Inc. in 1947. In his business he pioneered the automation process of the manufacturing of dinnerware and ceramic insulators. The business continues under the management of his two sons. Mr. Wahl was a life member of the American Ceramic Society and was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was an avid pilot, using his airplane in connection with his business. Mr. Wahl was predeceased by a brother, Raymond C. Wahl and a sister, Anna D. Wolf. Surviving are his wife, Margaret D. Wahl; sons, Robert A. Wahl, Roger A. Wahl, both of Brocton, N.Y.; daughter, Mrs. Willard (Luella) Champlin, Palmyra, N.Y.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur Wahl, Pompano Beach, Fla.. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral services will be conducted in New York at a later date. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.
