NSW BREAKS GROUND FOR MAJOR EXPANSION

NSW Corp. broke ground Tuesday for a $1 million expansion, that will add about 21,000 square feet to its plastic netting and packaging plant on Gregory Avenue Northeast in Roanoke.

When completed by Branch and Associates in mid-summer, the production area will double and the plant will total about 75,000 square feet, said NSW president Lawrence Ptaschek.

The company, owned by Norrdeutsche Seekablewerke AG of Germany, expects to add from 20 to 30 jobs to its work force of 70 in two to three years, Ptaschek said. The firm makes netting used for produce and poultry packaging and for industrial use.

With the expansion, NSW expects to enlarge its market with components for waste-water treatment systems. - Staff report
