SMOKING, SEX HARASSMENT RULES OK'D

Wytheville Town Council has adopted ordinances against both sexual harassment and smoking.

The first one spells out that any sexual harassment complaints by town employees will be investigated, whether the alleged offender is a town employee or not.

The other bans smoking in public buildings or places in Wytheville. Both ordinances were adopted Monday night.

Council also adopted an agreement to cover 31.56 percent of Wythe County's funding share of the Smyth-Wythe Joint Airport Commission, with the rest being handled by the county. The change was needed because Rural Retreat withdrew from the commission.

Wytheville will get Rural Retreat's seat on the commission's governing board, giving it two seats to the county's one. The county, in turn, got two seats to the town's one on the Wythe County Joint Industrial Development Authority following Rural Retreat's withdrawal from that.

The town also set April 6-10 as spring cleanup week.
