Bell is one of three candidates seeking the GOP nomination to oppose Rep. Rick Boucher, D-Abingdon, in this fall's election.
Jo Strictler, a senior history and economics major at Virginia Tech, has been named Bell's director of campaign communications. Strictler is past president of the college Republicans at Tech.
Strictler is a graduate of the Morton Blackwell youth leadership school in Northern Virginia, which trains young people to work in political campaigns. She has been active in past campaigns and is given much credit for helping Marshall Coleman carry Montgomery County in the last governor's race.
Bell has named Oliver Strawn of Blacksburg as his campaign treasurer. Strawn was Montgomery County's Republican chairman from 1969 to 1975 and served on the Republican State Central Committee from 1975-1982 as the representative of former Republican Rep. William C. Wampler.
