Vehicle decals on sale for Botetourt County

Botetourt County 1992 vehicle decals are available and may be purchased in person or by mail from the county treasurer's office at the county courthouse.

Hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Decals also are available at J&J Grocery in Blue Ridge, Buchanan Hardware in Buchanan and Zell's Market in Eagle Rock.

Decals for the incorporated towns are sold directly through the town offices only, during normal business hours: Buchanan, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; Fincastle, Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; and Troutville, Tuesday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Purchasers must give their driver's license number, vehicle license number and the date the vehicle was purchased.

The current decals expire April 15. State law requires that any delinquent property taxes be paid before a new decal can be issued.

\ Health departments need volunteer help

The health departments of Roanoke County, Salem, Vinton and Botetourt County are looking for volunteers willing to coordinate activities dealing with environmental, community and school health, clinic services and other prevention programs.

Volunteers must be able to serve at least eight hours a week and would receive liability insurance, paid travel expenses and other benefits.
