LOUISVILLE, KY. - Archibald Govan Hill, III, age 82, formerly of Roanoke, died Tuesday, March 10, 1992, in a Louisville, Ky. hospital. He was born July 27, 1909, in Huntington, W.Va. and was the son of the late Mr. & Mrs. A. Govan Hill, Jr. He attended Roanoke City Schools; was a graduate of the Virginia Military Institute and an engineer with the DuPont Co. for more than 40 years. He was predeceased by his sister, Betsy Hill, of Baltimore, Md. in April 1991. He is survived by his wife, Marylyn Sullivan Hill; two sons, Robert Morton Hill, Louisville, Ky.; Dr. Archibald Govan Hill, IV, Lafayette, La.; one granddaughter; and one grandson, of Lafayette, La.; one brother, O. Halsey Hill, Roanoke; and three sisters, Frances Hamer, Charlotte, N.C.; Ella Walker Mitchell, Newport News; and Phyllis Leiphart, York, Pa. He was a Mason and a member of St. Francis of the Fields Episcopal Church, where he was a Vestryman. A memorial service will be held at St. Francis of the Field at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 1992, and interment will be later at the Graham Cemetery in Orange, Va.
