HILLSVILLE POST OFFICE TO BE COUNTY MUSEUM

The Carroll County Historical Society will buy the old Post Office building on Main Street for a county museum.

Suzanne Burow and Patricia Newbern, sisters who own the building, agreed to sell it to the society for $115,000 and to make a $35,000 contribution, which will lower the society's price to $80,000.

Payments will be financed over nine years.

The society is asking its members to make contributions to a museum fund to continue the payments. Contributions are tax-deductible.

Those who donate $1,000 or more will have their names displayed on a plaque of special museum friends. Contributions or pledges should go to Louise Marshall, Treasurer, Carroll County Historical Society, P.O. Box 937, Hillsville 24343.

The building has a new roof, security windows and about 4,200 square feet of floor space. - Southwest bureau
