HOT TECH KNOCKS OFF HOST GEORGIA SOUTHERN

Virginia Tech continued its hot streak with a 9-6 victory over Georgia Southern in the Hall Of Fame college baseball tournament Thursday.

Junior right-hander Brad Clontz (4-0) from Patrick Springs, Va., gave up two earned runs, struck out 10 and walked seven in pitching the complete game. Les Jennette also went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI for Tech.

Two players from Roanoke's Cave Spring High School contributed as the Hokies (12-1-1) blew open the game with five runs in the second inning. Dee Dalton had an RBI double and senior first baseman Jay Honse added a two-run single.

Georgia Southern falls to 9-12. Tech plays two games, today and Saturday, against UNC Greensboro in the round-robin tournament. Staff report
