IN SERVICE

CHARLES W. FARLEY, son of Norval M. Farley of Draper, has been promoted to master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. He is an electronic computer and switching-systems technician at Elmendorf Air Force Base in Alaska.

\ TERRENCE D. SOUTHERN, son of Betty Southern of Dublin and Walt Southern of Lynchburg, has been promoted to technical sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Southern, a 1979 Pulaski County High School graduate, is an electric-power production technician at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.

\ SGT. THOMAS W. CRUISE, son of Thomas and Clara Cruise of Pulaski, received the Air Force Commendation Medal for outstanding achievement and meritorious service in the performance of his duties. Cruise, a 1985 Pulaski County High School graduate, is a communication-systems maintenance specialist at Langley Air Force Base.

\ PVT. 1ST CLASS STEVEN D. GILLISPIE, son of Ed and Joyce Gillispie of Pembroke, received an Army Achievement Medal for meritorious service. A 1990 Giles High School graduate, he is an infantryman at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

Recently completing infantry school are: MARINE PFC. TIMOTHY H. FIELDS, son of William and Betty Ferguson of Rich Creek; ARMY NATIONAL GUARD PVT. RODNEY L. EPPERLY II, son of Rodney and Peggy Epperly of Radford; and MARINE PFC. ADAM W. STRICKLER, son of Brenda Finley of Elliston.

Recently completing special training are: MARINE 1ST LT. BRUCE E. SHORT, son of George and Janet Short of Pulaski, graduated from the Basic School; NAVY FIREMAN RECRUIT CINDEE A. VAN ZANT, a 1990 Blacksburg High School graduate, graduated from Basic Hull Maintenance Technician School; NAVY CONSTRUCTIONMAN RECRUIT ERIC N. SHEPHERD, son of Levion and Gloria Shepherd of Shawsville, graduated from Basic Utilitiesman School; SPEC. DAVID H. HARDING, son of Sue Lawson of Dublin, participated in Orient Shield '92; PVT. STACY L. BRADLEY, son of Kay Kessinger of Pilot and Garland Bradley of Dublin, completed a unit supply course; and PVT. IVAN T. ROCOURT, a 1991 Radford High School graduate, completed a vehicle mechanic course.

Recently completing basic training are PVT. WILLIAM L. BELCHER, son of James and Shirley Belcher of Dublin, and AIRMAN JEREMY W. SHEALLY, son of H. Frank Stanley of Draper and Cathy Clemons of Narrows.
