SCHOLAR'S TOPIC IS WOMEN IN SPAIN

Carmen Varela, visiting Fulbright Scholar at Radford University, will discuss the changing status of women in Spain next Friday at 1 p.m. in Heth Hall Lounge A.

Varela, scholar-in-residence at Radford's Center for Gender Studies, is a professor at the University of Madrid. She has worked at a psychiatric hospital and in a planning center teaching sex education, birth control and sexual and marital therapy. Varela is on leave from a Madrid health center.

At Radford, she is conducting research and teaching a multicultural counseling course with Jeri Carter, psychology professor.

The lecture is free.
