A LOT OF GARBAGE FROM WASHINGTON

WE HAVE heard so much garbage from Washington. Our president until a few months ago said there was no recession, and now if Congress doesn't pass his economy bill by March 25, hard times will be their fault, not his.

Another big yo-yo from Washington said if Americans would stop worrying about the economy, it would straighten out. One day the news comes from the capital that things are picking up; the next day, General Motors is laying off thousands.

The Japanese think we aren't very smart. Why not? Our own government thinks we are brain-dead, and they are pulling the plug on us. When are "We the People" going to stand up and say, "I am as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it any more"? BETTY JO LONG BLACKSBURG
