HEGWOOD, MURIEL P.

Dr. Muriel Porter Hegwood, age 73, passed away Thursday, March 12, 1992, at Radford Community Hospital. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Radford. She was a graduate of Radford High School and Radford College. She received her Masters Degree at the University of Virginia and her Doctorate from Rutgers University. She had been a member of Chi Beta Phi since 1946. She taught at Wheaton College in Mass. and also at Roanoke College and retired from the University of the District of Columbia. Surviving are four nieces, Mrs. Catherine Blodgett of Summerville, S.C.; Mrs. Barbara H. Mosier of Charleston, S.C.; Ms. Esther A. Spell of Goose Creek, S.C.; Mrs. Lois Naylor of Marshall, Va.; two nephews, John F. Hegwood of Warrenton, Va.; Richard F. Hegwood, Sr., of Moncks Corner, S.C. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Radford with the Rev. George L. Ducker officiating. Interment will follow in the West View Cemetery in Radford. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday at the Seaver-Sanders & Mullins Funeral Home in Radford.
