FOREIGN AID BUYS DOUBLE CROSSES

IT IS TIME to step forth and take the risk of being called anti-Semitic. I do not feel that I am, but if that is the label someone wants to apply, then that is their business.

Considering our economic mess, I cannot believe we are talking about loan guarantees of $10 billion for a country that has shown such utter disrespect to a government that has supported it morally and financially since its inception.

Here is a country that is asking for as much as $14 billion total this year. What do we get for our money?

We get lied to; we get spied upon; we get our naval ships hit by their shells; we get our own military supplies secretly sold to Iran when we were on the brink of war; we get ignored when we ask them to stop building in the occupied zone with our money; we have them wanting us to bribe them to come to the peace table by holding out until we give them the loan guarantee. It appears as if friendship and loyalty move only in one direction.

Here is a country, or a people, that bemoan and decry the Holocaust, and they should. But they go out and kill children for throwing rocks at their soldiers. That is like using a flame-thrower to go after kids with water pistols. They blow up people's homes if they are suspected of being against Israel. How much further do they have to go before they become Holocaust perpetrators themselves?

I really would not be against a total moratorium on financial aid to all countries until our national debt gets more in line. JOHN D. OXLEY GOODE
