MONETA - Julius David Simmons, age 76 of Route 3, died Friday, March 13, 1992, in a Roanoke hospital. He was a member of the Hales Ford Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for 17 years. Also, he was a farmer and was retired from Rubatex Corporation. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Gracie Chisom Simmons; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marcella S. and Ray DeLong, Wirtz; Rose Mary S. and James Renick, Orlando, Fla.; three sons and daughters-in-law, Robert (Bobby) P. and Marcella Simmons, Roanoke; James and Diana Simmons, Moneta; Dale S. and Debra Simmons, Wirtz; ten grandchildren, Bonnie Wingfield, Todd Simmons, Gary Williams, Jeff Williams, Jeff DeLong, Elizabeth Simmons, Scott Renick, Shelly Simmons, Coleman Simmons, Chad Simmons; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Clark, Hardy; three brothers, Blanton Simmons, Curtis Simmons and Wilford Simmons, all of Hardy. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday in the Hales Ford Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Friends may call at Lynch Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, after 2:00 p.m. Saturday where the family will be from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friends desiring to do so may make memorials to the Hales Ford Baptist Church Building Fund, Wirtz, Va. 24184.
