Mr. John Woodrow McDaniel, age 74 of Salem, passed away Saturday in a Salem Hospital. Mr. McDaniel was an army veteran of World War II and retired from Green Hill Incorporated of Elliston. He most recently worked part time with the Roanoke County School System. Mr. McDaniel was a member of the West Salem Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Bernice Coffey McDaniel; a daughter and son-in-law, Gail and Larry Weinberg, Changewater, N.J.; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kathy McDaniel, Salem; five grandchildren, Bryan, Kevin, Travis McDaniel; Brittany and Kelly Weinberg; mother-in-law, Emily M. Coffey, Salem. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 16, 1992 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lotz Salem Chapel with the Rev. Michael Slaughter officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may call at Lotz Salem Chapel. The family wishes to express their deepest love and appreciation to the administration, staff, students, and parents of Hidden Valley Middle School for their generosity and support during Mr. McDaniels sickness, to the members of the West Salem Baptist Church for their love and support and prayers, to the doctors and nurses of Lewis Gale Hospital, especially Dr. David M. Randolph and staff, for their kindness, respect and care and to the many friends for their support and prayers.
