DRUG-RELATED SHOOTING KILLS ODU STUDENT

A college student from Virginia on spring break was shot to death when two carloads of friends stopped to buy crack cocaine in a drug-plagued neighborhood bordering a trendy nightclub district, police said.

Paul Sauder, 19, an Old Dominion sophomore from Vienna, Va., was with four classmates and a friend from South Miami when the cars drove up to a group on a street corner and discussed buying drugs early Friday, police said.

Someone on the corner opened fire on the two cars, and Sauder was fatally wounded in the throat, police said.

Vincent Lamont Meeks, 19, of Miami was charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm during a felony.
