BOTETOURT'S PRINCE DEFENDS K OF C TITLE

Lord Botetourt senior Bobby Prince will attempt to defend his title today in the 16th Annual Knights of Columbus of Roanoke Valley One-On-One Contest at Roanoke Catholic High School.

Prince, the top seed, will face Marcus Cardwell of North Cross in a semifinal game at 1:30. On Saturday, Prince defeated William Byrd's Bobby Milliron 22-10, and Cardwell edged Franklin County's Alessandro Lima 21-18.

In the other semifinal, Lord Botetourt's Craig Layman will play Salem's Josh Pugh. Pugh beat teammate Mark Byington 21-18 Saturday, and Layman knocked off William Fleming's Carlos Rhodes 21-11.

The semifinal winners will clash in the title game at 3:15.

In other Knights of Columbus basketball action today, the Cave Spring Supersonics will take on the South Salem Orange at 12:30 in the midget league championship.

At 2 p.m., the South Salem Falcons and the Heights Club Blue will meet in the little league championship.

Then, at 5 p.m., North Botetourt will play the High Street Saints in the junior league title game. There will be cheerleading competition before the last game, at 3:45, and the awards ceremony will wrap up the festivities at 6. - Staff report
