2 LOCAL HANDBALLERS PLACE IN TOURNAMENT

Roanoke's Andy Hudick was the runner-up in the Open Division and Salem's Dennis Wickes placed third in the A Division on Saturday in the Staunton Handball Invitational at Mary Baldwin College.

The one-day tournament featured 24 players from Western Virginia, competing in two divisions.

Hudick advanced through four preliminary games to the semifinals, where he defeated De Worrell of Lexington 21-17.

In the championship, Richmond's Joe Lafaro defeated Hudick 21-17 to win the Open Division. - Staff report
