WINTHROP RALLIES PAST RADFORD FOR 6-5 VICTORY

Winthrop scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to break a 5-5 tie and went on to defeat Radford 6-5 in college baseball Sunday in Rock Hill, S.C.

Both teams were scoreless through three innings until the Highlanders scored three runs in the top of the fourth to go ahead 3-0. Radford extended its lead in the sixth when it scored two more runs.

Just when it appeared as if the Highlanders were going to keep Winthrop scoreless, Winthrop got three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and two in the eighth.

Mike Settle was 3-for-4 in a losing effort for Radford.
