GIRLS' SCHOOL STUDENT DIES OF MENINGITIS

A St. Catherine's School student died after contracting bacterial meningitis, and school officials are warning students to take precautions against contracting the disease.

Adelaide Allen Armfield, a 17-year-old junior from Greensboro, N.C., died Saturday at Medical College of Virginia Hospital, a few days after first complaining of symptoms of a cold.

Officials sent a letter to students at all three St. Catherine's schools saying that an antibiotic can be taken as a precaution.

In February, a Radford University student died of meningitis, and the school dispensed antibiotics to students who may have come in contact with him.
