JONES, THELMA C. BLACKSBURG - Thelma Collins Jones, age 73, departed this life on March 15, 1992 at the Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg, after a long illness. She was born September 8, 1918 in Blacksburg, the daughter of the late Henry Trussell and Georgia Rose Trussell. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Clay Street, Blacksburg. She was also a member of the Baptist Minister's Wives Alliance. She was a retired employee of Virginia Tech. She also served as a volunteer at the Montgomery Regional Hospital and the Heritage Hall Nursing Home. Her survivors are her husband, The Rev. Robert Jones of Blacksburg; one son, Robert Collins of Catawba; two daughters, Doris Trussell of Blacksburg; Helen T. Cuadro of San Juan, Puerto Rico; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; on sister, Georgia Collins of Blacksburg; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 19 at 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Clay Street, Blacksburg with Dr. P.L. Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the Blacksburg Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Clay Street, Blacksburg. Claytor Alexander and Penn Funeral Home, Radford is in charge of the arrangements.
