OBIT KESLER, R.
KESLER, ROBERT E. Robert E. (Gene) Kesler, age 79, of Roanoke, died Sunday
in a local hospital. Mr. Kesler was a World War II Veteran having participated
in the D-Day Invasion at Omaha Beach, Normandy June 6, 1944. He was a retired
employee of the N&W Railway, a member of Raleigh Court United Methodist
Church, the Elks Club and Post #64 29th Infantry Division Association.
Surviving are his wife, Clarinda Frantz Kesler; sons and daughters-in-law,
Robert E. and Kathy Kesler of Westminster, Md.; George G. and Kathy Kesler of
Roanoke; sister, Kathryn Kesler of Roanoke; brother, W. J. (Bill) Kesler of
Roanoke; four grandchildren, Robby Kesler, Danny Kesler, Katie Kesler and
Robyn Kesler. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to
Raleigh Court United Methodist Church. Services will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at
Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with Dr. Gregory L. Adkins officiating. Interment will
follow in Evergreen Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 2:00
p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at Oakey's Roanoke.
