AKERS, WILLIE A. CHRISTIANSBURG - Willie Allen Akers, age 69, died Sunday, March 15, 1992, at Montgomery Regional Hospital. He was a veteran of World War II, and was retired from Virginia Tech. Surviving are his wife, Mary S. Akers; three daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary and Paul Rutherford, Kernersville, N.C.; Sally and John Smith, Christiansburg; Wesley and Larry Nedham, Belews Creek, N.C.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Donna Akers, Billy and Joyce Akers, Steve Akers, Alex Akers, all of Christiansburg; two sisters, Nellie Akers, Lillie Barnett, both of Christiansburg; a special friend, David Kessinger, Christiansburg; eleven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 18, 2:00 p.m. at the Ellett Pentecostal Holiness Church. The Rev. Mark Buckner and the Rev. Everette Shepherd will officiate. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Ellett Pentecostal Holiness Church after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Arrangements by McCoy Funeral Home, Blacksburg.
