KENNEDY TOP COACH

Pat Kennedy, who engineered Florida State's first-year success in the Atlantic Coast Conference, was named the league's 1992 coach of the year by The Associated Press.

Kennedy collected 86 of 107 votes from members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Writers Association. Mike Krzyzewski of Duke was second with 16 votes.

The Seminoles weren't expected to be contenders for the ACC title in their inaugural season. However, they finished 11-5 in the conference to claim second place behind Duke.

"Getting something like that in your first year is a great tribute to my coaching staff, the kids, and everything we did," Kennedy said.
