GOP CHAIRMAN IN BUCKINGHAM TO STEP DOWN

Donald Moseley of Buckingham County, chairman of the 5th District Republican Party for six years, said he will step down in May.

"Four years was enough, six years was too long, and two more years would be ridiculous," Moseley said Monday. "I've done it long enough."

Moseley, 50, announced he would not seek another term as district chairman Sunday during a GOP meeting in Buckingham.

Randolph Byrd, 40, of Buckingham County is the only announced candidate to succeed Moseley. The post will be filled at the district convention May 16 at Rustburg High School in Campbell County. The GOP also will nominate a candidate for Congress and delegates to the national Republican convention at that time. - Associated Press
