James Lacy Thrasher, age 89, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, March 17, 1992. He was a member of North Roanoke Baptist Church and was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia D. Thrasher; one son, Wallace S. Thrasher; one grandson, Kiley D. Thrasher. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Audrey Thrasher, Fred and Janice Thrasher, all of Stuart, Fla.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jay W. Thrasher, Boone, N.C.; Garnett Thrasher, Roanoke; Richard Thrasher, Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Winnie Bussey; Mrs. Ralph (Ella) Casteel, both of Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, with the Rev. Darryl Crim and the Rev. J. Landon Maddex officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel on Thursday where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
