LAUD DEMOCRATS FOR VOTER OUTREACH

UNLIKE William G. Ammen (letter, March 9), I commend the Democratic mayoral and city council candidates for reaching out to all voters, including politically active union members, gay men and lesbians.

The tax and voter-registration rolls of the city of Roanoke offer proof positive that those individuals have both a right and a duty to be involved in the political process. That should be clear to a "reasonable" political observer, such as Mr. Ammen claims to be. MICHAEL MCLEOD ROANOKE
