PEMBROKE - William Homer Cumbee, age 73, died Wednesday evening in a Lynchburg hospital. He was born on July 11, 1918 in Giles County, Va., the son of the late Homer and Julia Bailey Neice Cumbee. He was a retired employee of Blue Ridge Stone Corporation at Rustburg. He is survived by two sons, John Marion Cumbee and William Roscoe Cumbee, both of Salem; four daughters, Eunice Conley of Pembroke; Dorothy Epling of Salem; Darlene Woody and Patsy Minnix, both of Rustburg; one stepson, Danny Ware of Lynchburg; two stepdaughters, Yvondale Ware Spitzer and Anne Ware, both of Lynchburg; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel, Pembroke with Morgan Chewning, Jehovah's Witness of Rustburg officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Lebanon Church Cemetery at Pembroke. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
