RICHARDSON, DENNIS E.

Dennis Euell Richardson, age 79, of Route 1, Wirtz, Va. died Wednesday, March 18, 1992 in the Veterans Administration Hospital, Salem. He was born in Roanoke a son of the late Euell H. Richardson and Eula Eulena Divers Richardson. He was predeceased by his two wives, Elsie Kidd Richardson and Iantha Robertson Richardson, a sister, Mrs. Thomas C. (Frances) Chisnell, a brother, Cecil F. Richardson. He was educated in Roanoke City Schools, graduated from Jefferson Senior High School and National Business College. He was employed by Norfolk & Western General Offices in Roanoke before entering the service. He served in the European Theatre in World War II. He entered Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. graduating with an ABS Degree in Sacred Music, May 1952, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1954, Bachelors of Divinity in 1955, and Master of Divinity in June of 1973. He also had a Master of Education from University of Virginia in August of 1965. He served as Minister of Music at several churches in Roanoke before entering the field of education. He taught in Roanoke City Schools and Botetourt County Schools before retiring and establishing residence at Smith Mountain Lake. He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. H. Guy (Edith) Moyers of Roanoke; Mrs. F.J. (Ruth) Saunders of Lynchburg; Mrs. W. Harry (Edna) Ewald of Buena Vista. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's North Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 21 with the Rev. Dr. Darryl Crim officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to a favorite charity. Friends may call Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday.
