CABBIE UNSCATHED AFTER SHOTS FIRED

A cab driver responding to a call Wednesday night in Northwest Roanoke said a teen-ager pulled a gun on him and fired twice.

The bullets struck the outside left front panel of a cab driven by Robert Atkins. Atkins said the youth demanded money from him after he was summoned by name to a residence in the 700 block of Loudon Avenue.

In a news release, police said the incident did not appear to be a robbery attempt. The teen-ager apparently thought Atkins owed him money, police said.

There had been no arrest Thursday.
