John Alfred Doss, Jr., 78, died March 20, 1992 at his residence. He was the husband of Florence Smith Doss. Born in Appomattox County, he was a son of the late John A. Doss, Sr. and Minnie Stanley Doss. He was a retired section foreman for the N & W railroad and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son and his wife, William (Buck) and Juanita Doss, Salem; a daughter and her husband, Helen D. and Alvin Phelps, Concord; a granddaughter and her husband, Karen and Ricky Wright, Concord; a granddaughter, Kristie Doss, Salem; a great-grandson, Zachary Wright; one sister, Della D. Grubbs, Concord. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Anthony (Tony) Phelps and Judith Darlene Doss. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Calvary Baptist Church by the Rev. Frank Casper. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7:00 to 8:30 at Robinson Funeral Home, Appomattox, Va.
