NORRIS, SHERMAN M.

Sherman M. Norris, age 68, a resident of Salem, Va., died Thursday, March 19, 1992, at his residence. He was a native of Ashe County, N. C., and had lived in Chilhowie, Va., before moving to Salem thirty years ago. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the U. S. Army and was retired from the Virginia State Police with thirty two years of service. Survivors include his wife, Helen B. Norris of Salem, Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon Lee and Lewis Campbell, Jr. of Roanoke, Va.; a son and daughter-in-law, Douglas Sherman and Ruth Norris of Roanoke, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Loretta Norris of Saltville, Va.; and three grandchildren, Jill Patrick and Douglas Norris, Jr. and Katelyn Norris, all of Roanoke, Va.; one nephew, John Norris of Saltville, Va. Funeral service for Sherman M. Norris will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the graveside in Knollkreg Memorial Park with the Rev. James R. Layell officiating. The Virginia State Police Honor Guard will serve as pallbearers and will conduct a memorial service at the graveside. The family requests that expressions of sympathy may be in the form of contributions to the Good Samaritan Hospice, Inc., Cave Spring Professional Center, Building D, 3241 Electric Road, S.W., Roanoke, Va. 24018. The family will receive friends at the Campbell Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the graveside service on Saturday. Campbell Funeral Home of Abingdon, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
