FLOYD COUNTY HAS 2 GROCERIES AFTER IGA REOPENS

Floyd County has two grocery stores again.

The IGA reopened as Phil's IGA at the end of February.

"Business has been excellent," said Phil Lumsden, the new owner who is in the process of moving to the county from South Carolina. "Floyd is a good area, an area I like. And when I looked at the store, it was a good store."

Lumsden said old customers are returning and new ones are coming into the supermarket.

The store has been given a face-lift inside, with merchandise displayed differently than previously. It remains affiliated with the national IGA chain and is supplied by Richfood.

The store was formerly the Floyd IGA, owned and operated by Bob and Dawn Kober. It closed Jan. 21 because of financial problems.
