Mary Lynn Stephens, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. John VanLew, III, served as his son's best man. The ushers were David Wayne VanLew, brother of the groom; and John Kalafut, friend of the groom. Jenny Garst, friend of the bride, was the guestbook attendant. Richard E. Tomlinson was the organist.
The bride's gown was an ivory bridal satin with schiffli lace. The open neckline with pearl edged portrait collar was adorned with beaded appliques. The skirt had a fitted bodice and an antebellum waistline. The gown bustles from a rose bow to back waist. She wore an extended chapel length train with headpiece that was embellished with cameo appliques. She carried a cascade bouquet of Lady Di roses, white freesia, button mums and baby's breath.
The bride, daughter of Mrs. and Mrs. J. William Stephens of Roanoke, is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and attended Va. Western Community College. She is employed as a Loan Processor with United Companies Lending Corporation. She is the granddaughter of Irna and Walter Chitwood and Mrs. Evelyn P. Stephens. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. John VanLew, III, of Kernersville, N.C., is a graduate of Hayfield High School in Fairfax County, and is employed as a Technical Services Supervisor for Salem Cable TV. He is the grandson of Mrs. William E. Schrader and Mrs. John VanLew, Jr.
After the wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, the newlyweds will live in Roanoke.
