BODY, WILLIAM E. William E. Body, age 69 of Roanoke, went to meet his Lord
on March 19, 1992, in a North Carolina hospital. He was an army veteran of
World War II. He was a former employee of the Celanese Corp. of Pearisburg, a
charter member of both the Narrows Lions Club and the Northside Lions Club of
Roanoke. Mr. Body was a former employee of General Electric with over eighteen
years of service. He was an active member of Melrose Christian Church and
Westhampton Christian Church. Survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Body;
daughter, Kathryn Hoffman of Warrenton; son, William Christopher Body of
Roanoke; three grandchildren, Teresa Keister, Barbara Burnop and Shawn Body,
all of Roanoke; one great-grandson, Phillip Keister of Roanoke; five sisters,
Juanita Cundiff, Richmond; Pauline Dove, Churchville, Betty Smith,
Springfield, Va.; Trina Conly, Midland, Texas; and Nancy Nolen of Roanoke;
four brothers, Richard Body of Radford; Dennis Body and Vernon Body, both of
Roanoke; James Body, Charlotte, N. C.; numerous nieces and nephews. Service
will be held at Westhampton Christian Church at 1:00 p.m. Monday with Dr. Paul
Matheny and the Rev. Walter Bingham, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in
Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be
made to Westhampton Christian Church or the Northside Lions Club. Friends may
call at Oakey's South Chapel from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
